Da Nang is an energetic and urban city of Central Vietnam which has witnessed rapid growth in recent times. The Da Nang Port, (consisting of two ports, Tien Sa Port and Song Han Port) situated at the mouth of the Han River, is a major port in Central Vietnam, and the third largest port system within Vietnam. The city is spread across the two sides of the Han River which flows directly through the city dividing the city into the Western side and the Eastern side.
The Western side is the cosmopolitan and thriving part, always buzzing with activity. Here, you’ll find a typical style of streets close to each other with a variety of eating options, bars, shopping, and nightlife. Busy roads of Da Nang like Bach Dang, Le Duan, and Tran Phu Street are all parts of this area. There are many districts on this side, but the popular choice with expats is the Hai Chau district, which is the main commercial district of the city. The East side of the river is more laid back and is like a beach town. You have long stretches of uncrowded beaches with lots of water activities like surfing, and plenty of delicious seafood restaurants. Many golf courses have also evolved close to the beach for the recreation and relaxation of tourists. There are two districts on the East side, Son Tra to the North and Ngu Hanh Son to the south. Son Tra district is famous for its unique white beaches and is connected to Hai Chau district by many bridges. Ngu Hanh Son district is home to the famous marble mountains of Da Nang. The Au Thong Quarter gets a large number of foreign visitors, and steps are being taken to convert it into “Pho Tay” (Street of Foreigners) with bars, eateries and attractive night entertainment activities. It has several UNESCO World Heritage sites like the Imperial City of Hue, the Old Town of Hoi An and the My Son Ruins all are to be found within a short distance from the City.
Healthcare in Da Nang is quite good with a number of big hospitals like Da Nang Hospital, C Hospital, and Women’s Hospital. They are generally good for most ailments.
